25 July 2013: You know it cold when the water turns to ice on you kayak. It was -6, the waters were mirrored and my morning paddle may have been frosty but it was mind blowing. It’s well worth having frosty fingers when you are treated to scenery like this. Lake Burley Griffin is ever changing and I’m amazed at how it provides me with a new experience each day. I hope you enjoy this morning’s frosty snaps.

Cutting through the icy waters.

Despite the cold the scenery was fantastic

The scenery was so cool….sorry I couldn’t help myself then 🙂

I just love how this photo sums up the morning perfectly.

Dreamy beginning

I just had to load another one.

Burning through the morning mist.

I wasn’t in any hurry at all.

Lucky I had the kayak fitted with an electric seat and a ice breaker yesterday 😛

It certainly was a hair raiser of a morning.
Beautiful! Thank you Paul.
Your welcome Sofia, I glad you liked the shots. It was such a beautiful morning out there despite the cold.
These are just beautiful shots. I wouldn’t like to take my dog for that early morning walk round Lake BG, so it’s great to see how it looks to someone brave enough to be out there!
Hi Elizabeth, The frosty starts always produce something wonderful and today didn’t disappoint, although I wouldn’t like to go for a dip, that’s for sure.

Perfect cold day in Canberra
Just magical, thanks for sharing!
Hi Janet, It nice to be out there to try and capture a moment and share it on. Mother Nature certainly puts on a great show. Thanks
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Always love to see a different view of our lovely city!
Hey pat, It’s nice to be able to show things from different perspective. We experience so many stunning sunrises and sunset here in Canberra. It nice to share them.
I was out on the streets before 5am and it was very cold (although I was snug and warm). The only bad thing is it’s too dark for photos at that time. I’m at work when the sun comes up so I love seeing your pics to see how the day unfolded. Bring on the weekend when I can run/cycle at a later time and catch the sunrise!.
It definitely was a chilly start this morning. I think that the wind chill was down to -10. I have the same problem, I am on the water 45 minutes before sun up but it too dark (and too hard) to snap shots from a kayak free hand (there are plenty of attempts), although I do jag the odd one every now and again. Its shaping up to be a clear weekend…enjoy.
