8 Feb 2014: The swans were floating amongst pastel tones, there were hovering balloons and I was treated to golden sunrise. Crystal clear blue skies soon took over as I paddled my way into another stunning Canberra day. It doesn’t get much better than this, the conditions were so good that my planned 2 hour paddle turned into a 4 hour pleasure cruise.

5.49am: The morning was so good that even the local were just floating around and were in no hurry at all.

Chasing a few pastel tones into the main basin

I was so excited when I discovered that the balloons were going to launch from the lawns of the Old Parliament House.

Sculling into a gorgeous sunrise

Magic tones to start the day.

Now the balloon chase is on….. love this part.

Precision flying

It was that close you could nearly touch it

A balloon eye view of the Nation Museum

Quad Questacon

It great to see so many kayakers out on LBG

Time for a quick chat and a few hellos

The conditions were near perfect once again

There is no better way to start the day.

This bloke was even having a fly fish out there. He told me that he latched onto a big carp and it dragged him down towards the Carillon.

Love it when it’s like this. I just didn’t want to get out.

What a great combination….crystal blue skies & smooth water

That was a magic morning. I hope that you enjoyed the paddle.
Another fantastic set of photographs!
Thanks so much Pat, it was such as beautiful morning out there. I didn’t want to get off the water as the conditions were so good. In the end I was running late to take my middle boy to his soccer game……luckily we made it in time 😊
Nice picture
Thanks so much Viktor, I was a very peaceful paddle that morning. I just love it when the conditions are like that
