23 Feb 2015: The turbulent skies were a real spectacle today and especially this afternoon before the storm struck. There was no better vantage point than sitting in the middle of Lake Burley Griffin in a red chilli. Fortunately I managed to exit the water before the lightning and heavy rain.
The morning sky was moody and broody
What a sensational end to the day
That incoming rain looks amazing. But the black and white cloud shot at the end…. Wow.
It was great to be out on the water and watch the clouds form and gain in intensity. There were two sections of the storm, one over the Brindabella’s and the other was looming over Parliament house. I had to leave the water as the lightning was starting to get a little too close and you could feel the static in the air. Very cool.
Sounds like a safe move!
