26 Sept 2013: True magic is the only way to describe my paddle on LBG this morning. I can rant and rave about how beautiful it was or how I drifted on a massive sheet of glass that was the entire main basin and experienced a truly stunning sunrise. I had the water to myself for ages and the mirror reflections were glorious and many times throughout my two hour paddle it felt like I was floating on the clouds. Anyway enough of the chatter, I’ll let the photos tell the story. I hope that you enjoy the shots.

That was one unbelievable experience. I just drifted away lost in the colours this morning.
I’m heading North to Coff’s harbour for 10 days as my middle boy (Finn) is playing in the Australian Nationals for soccer. So hopefully I will be loading a few shots from a few different locations. Once we return back from coff’s, then its off to China for 10 days (Finn is touring with the AIS then) . It’s going to be an exciting few weeks ahead. Should make for a few different photos 🙂
You are lucky. And smart to get up early enough to catch those sunrises on the still waters. I guess I need to look for what camera you use. Love the reflections turned upside down.

I’m using the Canon PowerShot D20. It and underwater camera. It takes great shots, ideal for what I’m doing.
The early morning conditions are excellent here in Canberra, I find that it mostly calm for the first two hours of the morning and then the wind will pick up. We certainly do seem to have many stunning sunrises here. I love starting the day like that. I’m well and truly addicted to it and what a fantastic addiction to have. The ‘Padding on the clouds’ was a bit of fun hey, its nice to throw a different perspective on thing.
I too paddle because I cannot really walk and it just frees me…and I am an early riser. Hell, I hardly sleep. My old Canon is NOT waterproof but I have managed to keep it dry enough for 3 years. Doin’ the research on a new one and not sure if I want to go with DSLR or simpler. I posted a reblog of a trip to Waldo Lake with some cloud reflections. Hood River is a windsurfing mecca and we paddle windy conditions virtually all the time so really appreciate the flatwater opportunities.
