9 March 2015: It was a carnival atmosphere on LBG this morning to celebrate Canberra Day 2015. A record number of balloons launched from the Lawns of Old Parliament House and adorned the Canberra skyline while SUP riders, fellow kayakers and local scullers enjoyed the colourful spectacle from the water. Even the local birdlife joined in on the parade!
As a balloon crew person, I am gobsmacked at how super sensationally good these happy snaps are! Excellent work Paul in capturing not only the essence of water sport relaxation but also the great sense of comedy, fun and cheekiness of the balloon fraternity, pilots and crew teams have when it comes to being social in any way shape or form! Balloon pilots love doing a ‘splash and dash’ when the opportunity (rarely) arises!
Love your photographic genius PJ! You must be enjoying these gorgeous mornings with more balloons than normal to fill your artistic camera lens as you pass the time floating on LBG in prime/pole position capturing the precious moments that many of us appreciate!
Hi Susan,
How lucky are you to be able to involved in this industry and I’m so glad that you like my imagery of the balloons. I wait all year to be able to witness such a spectacular, this is such a wonderful event, but the main essence for me is the fun, the enthusiasm and joyous atmosphere that the balloonist’s and support crew provide.
Thank you so much.
I look forward to meeting you in person
Kind regards
Paul
