What a welcome to all those who are visiting Canberra for the opening of Floriade, ‘Reflections’. Often the most amazing things are right on your door step and all we have to do is open the door. 10 Sept 2015: Shorts and T-shirts were spotted on lake dwellers this afternoon as the warmth of spring was in the air. It won’t be too long before we see Canberra in bloom and Australia’s biggest celebration of spring, Floriade is in full swing with its theme ‘Reflection.’
I would like to thank everyone who joined me for the opening of my exhibition ‘Kayakcamerman’ at Local Press. I was overwhelmed with the response and enjoyed sharing my images with friends, colleagues and the broader community. This opening will be etched in my memory and I thank you for sharing my passion for photography.
5 Sept 2015: The sun was shining and the warmer conditions clearly enticed more people to get out and about on the water to enjoy a wonderful beginning. Spring is definitely on its way and love was in the air today.

I’m a kayaker who has fallen in love with photography. What I love about paddling and photography is that it provides me with an incredibly calm head space. “It’s my meditation.”
You will find me paddling on Lake Burley Griffin most mornings and evenings, quietly snapping away at the unique seasonal and light changes that take place around me.
I began paddling on the lake as a way to rebuild both my body and mind after enduring an intensive three month bout of chemotherapy due to testicular cancer.
I grew up in Newcastle, NSW and surfed but I had never paddled a kayak. Paddling on Lake Burley Griffin reunited me with the water and allowed me to capture the sunrises and sunsets that I experienced during my youth. No two days are the same, and each day provides me with a natural light show that sometimes leaves me gasping in wonder. I hope that you enjoy the photos as much as I have enjoyed capturing them.

22 Aug 2015: The scenery was smokin’ hot this morning with the lake shrouded with mystical fog. On sunrise the fog quickly disappeared as the sun burnt through heralding a new day. As we merge into spring you can see subtle changes in the colour palette and smell the warmth in the air.
