About kayakcameraman

I’m a kayaker who has fallen in love with photography. You'll find me quietly snapping away at the unique seasonal changes that take place around me. I began paddling on the lake as a way to rebuild both my body and mind after enduring an intensive three-month bout of chemotherapy due to testicular cancer. I had never paddled a kayak prior to this and very quickly discovered how stunning it is to be on the water looking out – rather than in. What I love about photography and paddling is that it provides you with best head space. This is why I love my daily paddles, as it gives me peace and contentment along with some of the best natural light shows. Why would you not want to experience it!

Nature’s Slideshow

23 May 2015: “It’s amazing what you can see when you just sit quietly and look” by Jacqueline Kelly sums up my morning experience perfectly! I was in no hurry at as the morning started off with a vivid orange pre-dawn spectacular (40 mins prior) and changed so quickly to such soft pink and blues. I didn’t even have time to move and it felt like I was living in nature’s slide show. The mist began rolling in from the Molonglo River to create an awesome atmosphere. At one point I was watching shards of 3D golden beams burning through the mist. The scenery was that good that I moved at a frantic pace of 50 meters per hour. How could you not!

Monday Morning Meditation

18 May 2015: The early morning sky glowed with a mixture of oranges, cinder reds that blended into mellowing mauves and blues. Light mist was dancing on the surface in front me as I watched another beautiful unveiling. It wasn’t too long before I was drifting amongst swirling murals of colour on the water’s surface. The finale was crystal blues skies, vivid reflections and a solo balloon to top everything off. This is my morning meditation.

Lost in a World of Beauty

17 May 2015: This morning I found myself totally lost in a world of natural beauty and I was in no hurry to be found at all. I’m struggling to use words to describe my experience, so it is best to let the images convey the story. Every now and again something special happens and this was one of those moments. I hope you like my imagery.

Wintery Treat for Mother’s Day

10 May 2015: A cold blustery day didn’t faze mums around the nation’s capital as they celebrated Mother’s Day. Several braved the elements participating in the Mother’s Day Classic, while others enjoyed sharing food with loved ones at local cafes and restaurants. Local Press, Kingston Foreshore was our pick of the day with superb food, outstanding friendly service and quality coffee. I hope all mums were treated to something special today.
