About kayakcameraman

I’m a kayaker who has fallen in love with photography. You'll find me quietly snapping away at the unique seasonal changes that take place around me. I began paddling on the lake as a way to rebuild both my body and mind after enduring an intensive three-month bout of chemotherapy due to testicular cancer. I had never paddled a kayak prior to this and very quickly discovered how stunning it is to be on the water looking out – rather than in. What I love about photography and paddling is that it provides you with best head space. This is why I love my daily paddles, as it gives me peace and contentment along with some of the best natural light shows. Why would you not want to experience it!

Enchanting Monday

28 March 2016: Another spectacular sunrise over Newcastle Ocean Baths, NSW AUSTRALIA. The swell was up with waves crashing over the historic Ocean Baths and running into the children’s pool, known to many as the Canoe Pool. This is my home town where I would frequently  run along this very pool, surfboard in hand to jump off the rocks and into the ocean. This is one of my favourite destinations which evokes many good memories of my youth and  I relish the opportunity to share this beautiful part of the coast with you . Balloons with a View

19 March 2016: The lawns of Old Parliament House were dotted with balloons early on this morning due to unfavourable winds. Most people would consider this a bad thing, but on the contrary, this allowed me and many other family’s the opportunity to get up close and personal with the balloons, the pilots and the support crew. For me this was a first time experience as I am accustomed to seeing the balloons from a waters perspective. The close contact left me wanting more, even after 2 hours of cruising my way amongst the sounds and colours. I had the opportunity to liaison with the people who are truly passionate about ballooning and that make this event a wonderful occasion for us all.

Balloons Burners & Brilliance

17 March 2016: The sky was a buzz with the sound of blasting burners breaking the morning silence in Canberra. Balloons were lighting up the early morning sky, baskets were dripping water after their ‘Splash & Dash’ or I should be saying ‘Sail & Drift’. We had single and double chair balloons dropping down from great height at a rapid rate of knots only to pull up with pin point precision and calmly ‘Sail & Drift’ on the waters surface. The balloons always create such a happy and enjoyable environment for everyone to experience.  It was a brilliant spectacle and a true indication of how skilful the pilots are that fly these balloons. Do yourself a huge favour and make sure you experience this as you will be talking about it for ages.

A Canberra Story

16 March 2016: The Canberra Centre’s ‘A Canberra Story’ is a visual spectacular that is the first of its kind in Australia. It’s an interactive art installation that takes you on a journey through some of Canberra’s famous landmarks such as Telstra Tower, the Arboretum and Lake Burley Griffin. It is located on level one of the Canberra Centre opposite the Apple Store.
