About kayakcameraman

I’m a kayaker who has fallen in love with photography. You'll find me quietly snapping away at the unique seasonal changes that take place around me. I began paddling on the lake as a way to rebuild both my body and mind after enduring an intensive three-month bout of chemotherapy due to testicular cancer. I had never paddled a kayak prior to this and very quickly discovered how stunning it is to be on the water looking out – rather than in. What I love about photography and paddling is that it provides you with best head space. This is why I love my daily paddles, as it gives me peace and contentment along with some of the best natural light shows. Why would you not want to experience it!

Gorgeous Beginning

15 Oct 2015: What a truly stunning morning to be out and about in Canberra. LBG was a buzz with activity as the kayakers, row boats and sculls enjoyed near perfect conditions. There was also plenty of activity on the foreshore with joggers, runners, cyclists, dog walkers and boot campers reveling in the gorgeous spring temperatures.

Sunrise and Sculls

11 Sept 2015: A quiet morning paddle was broken up by the sounds of enthusiastic scullers who were preparing to participate in the Colin Panton Memorial Rowing Marathon held on Lake Burley Griffin. This is an annual long distance race which has been running since 1965 in memory of Colin Leslie Panton and his son who tragically drowned during a training session on LBG.
