Speechless and in Awe.

5 September 2013: It’s the most amazing feeling when you experience a sunrise like this. Words just can’t convey it, but hopefully the photos can; what an absolute stunner of a morning. The morning began with predawn tiger stripes forming on the horizon and very quickly gorgeous pastel colours lit up the morning skies and it felt like I was paddling on pink and lilac clouds.By 6.18am I was witnessing another brilliant sunrise out here on LBG and for me that’s what it is all about. Seeing the beginning of a new day always puts a giant smile on my dial. I hope you enjoy the shots as much as I have enjoyed taking them.

Spectacular Start

1 September 2013: Golden sunrises, dreamy misty fingers of golden rays, hovering balloons, silhouette swans, crazed reflections and pelicans all made for a delightful start to spring this morning. Spring has started in spectacular style and I can’t wait to see the multitude to colours that Canberra is about to produce. I hope that you enjoy the shots 🙂

So glad you are aboard for the trip :)

Super Dooper Mega WOW

31 August 2013: That was one of the most mind blowing gorgeous, stunning, brilliant, vivid, amazing, glorious, fantastic (and as many other great words you can use) sunrise. Super wow, mega wow come close to describing the impact that had on me. I am truly blessed to be able to experience something like this. My Canon PowerShot D20 was working overtime this morning capturing a superb send off to winter. I hope you enjoy the shots from this morning as much I do.

Hidden Treasure

22 August 2013: I was totally blown away this morning. Who would have thought that a vivid and gorgeous sunrise could take place on such a blustery and miserable morning?  I was on the water for 6am and I decided to drift my way up the Molonglo River with dark and heavy clouds brooding overhead.  Then it was as if someone opened the hidden treasure box. The light show was brilliant, intense and lasted for about 10 minutes. My pocket rocket ‘Canon PowerShot D20’ was working over time as I truly didn’t expect to be treated to anything like this at all. The beautiful colours were quickly extinguished and it wasn’t long before I was paddling amongst light drizzle. Totally amazing; it just goes to show you, you never know what you will experience until you get out there and have a go.

The skies were angry this morning!

Chalk and Cheese

What a wonderful weekend it has been and I couldn’t have had two totally different mornings. This is why Lake Burley Griffin continues to blow me away, each day it continually serves me up something new. My pocket rocket Canon PowerShot D20 was working overtime!

Saturday morning's tones were sublime.

Best of July

What a wonderful winter it’s been. The thing I love the most about winter is that it produces the most amazing conditions with each morning having its own unique signature. One morning its crystal clear and the Red Chilli is slicing its way through glassy waters. The next morning it’s thick as pea soup and you can’t see five metres in front of you. I hope that you enjoy the variety of shots that comprise my ‘Best of July’ photo journal.

A brilliant transformation, the pastel pinks quickly turned into glossy gold’s.

Sunday Spectacular

28-July 2013: Unbelievable! Vivid reds and vibrant oranges lit up the morning skies to produce one of the best sunrises that I have seen for a while. But it didn’t stop there, then the morning transformed into an amazing light spectrum that constantly wowed me for the entire that I was out there. The glassy waters of Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra were the perfect accompaniment and at times it felt like I was slicing through the clouds. The photos just don’t do it justice and as note, none of my  photo’s are digitally enhanced at all, this makes it even more amazing.

Frosty Snaps

25 July 2013: You know it cold when the water turns to ice on you kayak. It was -6, the waters were mirrored and my morning paddle may have been frosty but it was mind blowing. It’s well worth having frosty fingers when you are treated to scenery like this. Lake Burley Griffin is ever changing and I’m amazed at how it provides me with a new experience each day. I hope you enjoy this morning’s frosty snaps.

Sunrise + Sand + Newcastle = Fantastic trip down memory lane

18 July 2013: This morning I decided to go for a walk and take in the sunrise from my old stomping grounds rather than go for a paddle and what a fantastic decision that was. It was so nice to just sit back and enjoy a glorious sunrise from my old surfing spots from Newcastle to Nobbys beach. The pre-dawn tones were sublime and the morning transformation was brilliant. My walk this morning brought back so many memories and reminded how important it is to get out there and enjoy the simple things. I hope that you enjoy this mornings shots as much as I enjoyed photographing them, I had such a beautiful trip down memory lane.

6.16am: New day beginning at Nobbys Beach.

Cruising in Newcastle

17 July 2013: It was so nice to be home and have another beautiful cruise on Newcastle Harbour. Yet again I had 6am start and I‘m so happy that I did as the early morning light refraction was brilliant. It’s so nice to be out on the water and watch the sun pop each day, I’m so lucky to be able to experience it.

6.18am: The Shimmy Sunrise - Newcastle. The light refraction was amazing. This is 40 minutes before the scheduled sunrise.... Unreal!
