6 May 2013: How good is Canberra? I was severed up another day that was nearly identical to yesterdays and trust me I’m not complaining. I’m amazed at how many serene starts we continually have, the only thing that I am noticing is that we are hitting the sub zero temperatures now and it won’t be long before the water on my hatches begin to freeze again. Then you know it’s cold!
Ditto day has begun
3 May 2013: It was a fresh start this morning as the temperature dropped below zero. When I walked out at 5.20am I noticed that we had our first frost and it felt like someone had left the freezer door ajar. The fingers were a little snappy and the ears certainly had a frosting. It seems that it’s time to break out the gloves and the Bennie.

2 May 2013: Clear skies and calm conditions provided the perfect conditions for me to snap a few silhouette shots this morning. It has been one of the most spectacular autumns that I have seen for a long time. The colours are still vivid and the weather has been sublime, but it won’t be long before we are shin deep in leaves and scrapping the ice off our windscreens. I hope that you like the shots.
1 May 2013: I just love seeing Canberra from a different perspective. This morning I was floating around on the water from 5.30am. Initially it was clear as a bell and I was taking in some awesome lighting reflections from the National Museum and the Commonwealth Bridge. I could see the fog brewing in pre dawn distance down in the wetlands and it wasn’t long before the fog slowly crept in and blanketed the entire lake. This created an amazing atmosphere out there on the water. I am loving the transition from autumn to winter. I hope that you like the shots.
28 April 2013: This morning ‘Captain Nemo’ and I cruised into the Jerrabomberra Wetlands on their open day in my double sea kayak the ‘Big Bopper’. It’s hard to imagine that our wetlands are only 5kms from our CBD and only a stone throw from Lake Burley Griffin’s foreshore. They are easily accessed and you can enjoy them by walking, bike riding or as I prefer, kayaking. Either way, what ever mode you opt for you will have an enjoyable experience. 27 April 2013: A pink sunrise, a full moon and balloons were on my order this morning and Lake Burley Griffin served up it perfectly. This allowed for myself and a few mates to have an extremely relaxed paddle.
26 April 2013: What an electric morning. I decided to venture into the wetlands this morning for a peaceful paddle as the winds were up a little. The sky this morning was amazing and the calmness of the wetlands combined together to produce some stunning landscapes scenery. How lucky are we to have something like this on our door step. I don’t think that there would be too many other Capital cities in the world that have a wetland environment five minutes from its CBD. I hope that you enjoy a few snap shots from this morning.
5.52am: It was shaping up to be a howler off a morning.
25 April 2013: LEST WE FORGET.This morning was a time to pay respect and reflect on the ultimate sacrifice that all of our diggers have made for us. Your courage, true grit and never say die attitude has allowed my family, friends and myself to live such a wonderful life in this brilliant country. I have put together a sequence from this mornings paddle on Anzac Day. It’s because of you that I am able to experience so many stunning sunrises and sunsets and call Australia home. I thank you!
24 April 2013: What a misty morning marvel. It felt that the water temp has dropped a few degrees since yesterday and there was even a light frosting on the windscreen this morning. But it’s conditions like these that produce a mystical feeling out on the water.
6.13am: Kings Avenue Bridge shroud in mist.
This is one session that will be etched in my mind for a long time. Total elegance and sheer beauty are the first words I would use to describe the swans. I decided to dedicate an entire blog post of the swan silhouettes from a Sunday morning paddle a few weeks ago. There are no captions, no time references, just the swans themselves. I hope you enjoy.
