Paddlers in the Mist

31 OCT 2013: It was a beautiful misty start on Lake Burley Griffin this morning. I was enjoying the peace and calm waiting for the sun to rise and out of the  rising mist on the Molonglo River shot the Ice Dragon Outrigger Canon Club, they  looked fantastic. I drifted my kayak into the East Basin enjoying the sunrise to discover  plenty of activity with the outriggers, surf boats, sculls and kayakers all  going through their morning paces. All this activity made for an enjoyable Thursday morning float.

5.36am: I looking forward to this morning.

Relaxed Sunday Start

27 OCT 2013: The sunrise changed colour three times this morning as it burnt through the fog. There were beams of light burning through the Mist, pelicans were silhouetted in the fog and the swans drifted elegantly on glassy waters. All of these elements combined to make for a very relaxing start to my Sunday.

Warm Welcome Home

26 Oct 2013: This was my first float back on Lake Burley Griffin after going to China with Tully (eldest boy) to watch Finn (middle boy) play 7 games of football (soccer) in 10 days. The conditions were fresh but I was certainly treated to a stunning warm welcoming home. I know I say it a lot, but I just love starting the day like this!

Bon voyage

I was farewelled by a gorgeous Canberra sunset tonight (This was snapped from my back deck as I was preparing dinner). I’m off to China tomorrow for 10 days with my middle boy ‘The Flying Finn’ as he is touring with ACTAS (soccer) as their goal keeper. I can’t wait to see what cultural experiences China brings and I’m looking forward to sharing them with you all. Speak to soon….. 🙂

Maria River Magic

6 OCT 2013:  All I could hear was the glug of my paddle slicing through the glass waters and a multitude of birds in full song as I casually meandered my way on the Maria River this morning. I am working my way home ever so slowly and I just wish I had another few days ( more like weeks really!) to reunite myself this this stunning region. This is just a taste, as I will be back up here camping in twelve weeks time for our annual Christmas Holidays. So much see, so much to do!

Fantastic Farewell

5 OCT 2013:  We leave Coffs Harbour not crying because its over, but smiling because it happened. This place is pure magic! It was only fitting that I experienced another stunning sunrise to farewell our fantastic week at Coffs Harbour. This week has been a sunrise bonanza, each morning has treated me to something totally different yet mind blowing beautiful. Today we pack up camp and slowly migrate our home over the next few days. Farewell Coffs Harbour, thanks for the great time…see you again for sure!

Subtle Beauty

3 OCT 2013: Sheer beauty and elegance would be the best way to describe this morning’s sunrise. It was such a subtle transformation with the predawn orange tones changing to pastel pinks, then finishing off with a striking sun burning in the horizons haze. I hope you enjoy the shots from Bonville creek, Sawtell.

4.48am and I'm greeted with orange tones to the east as I round the corner.
