24 Nov 2013: New faces and great personalities made for an enjoyable paddle on lake Ginninderra this morning. For some it was their first experience at paddling a kayak and hopefully it wont be their last. Thanks everyone, I had a great time and look forward to doing it again.

20 Nov 2013: This afternoons sunset will be etched in my mind for some time to come. Its not too often that I get the opportunity to catch a sunrise, but this was definitely one to experience. I’m not going to rant and rave and tell you how great it is. I’ll just let the photos tell the story.
From the outset I could tell that it was going to be a very cool sunset.
20 Nov 2013: I know I keep saying it, but once again I have been treated to another stunning morning. The pastel tones transformed into a glorious golden glow as the sun popped up over the landscape, unveiling a beautiful day.
Once again I’m greeted with Pastel pinks to the West…..How good is that!
19 Nov 2013: Pastel pinks lined the skies to the West this morning as I chasing the full moon into the main basin. On my return I watched golden tones flood over Canberra welcoming a new day; I love seeing Canberra from this perspective.

The first thing I noticed this morning was that LBG’s water levels have risen due the recent rains. On the 25 October 2013, NCA Acting Chief Executive, Andrew Smith said a technical assessment was commissioned to determine if the lake level could be raised prior to finishing work on the dam. ‘The NCA has received independent advice that it is safe to return the lake to full supply level,’ Mr Smith said. This was a perfect opportunity for me to drift amongst the magnificent mirror reflections of our wetlands.
Drifting my way through the wetlands is always an enjoyable experience
9 Nov 2013: Windy weather made for a turbulent paddle this morning but it also created wild skies in the process. Paddling on the lake in windy conditions can be quite treacherous as the wind swell recoils off the surrounds and can turn sections of the lake into a huge washing machine. Half the fun is staying upright, but also searching for the calm and protected areas.
Into the main basin we go and here we find protection from the squalling winds.
7 Nov 2013: This morning I was treated to a gorgeous sunrise and stunning silhouettes. I ventured over the mouth of the Jerrabomberra Wetlands and caught a the sunrise with ‘Pedro’ and his Squadron. Soon after that the members from The “Capital Lakes Rowing Club” were getting ready for their morning rowing session on LBG. Then to top it all of I decided to drift my way through the Kingston Foreshore developed. I don’t think it will be too long before the Kingston Foreshore will be alive and buzzing, I’m looking forward to grabbing a table, sitting back on the pier and enjoying the view. It’s going to be another beautiful day here in Canberra so I hope that you get outside and enjoy the sunshine. Have a great day!
3 Nov 2013: It was the beginning of brilliance. Wild skies were swirling, the colour spectrum was going into overload. What a sunrise, what an experience.
2 Nov 2013: It was as if I was paddling into a tangerine sunrise this morning. The waters were glassy, the winds were light and the colours were magnificent. It made for a perfect start to Saturday.
31 OCT 2013: It was a beautiful misty start on Lake Burley Griffin this morning. I was enjoying the peace and calm waiting for the sun to rise and out of the rising mist on the Molonglo River shot the Ice Dragon Outrigger Canon Club, they looked fantastic. I drifted my kayak into the East Basin enjoying the sunrise to discover plenty of activity with the outriggers, surf boats, sculls and kayakers all going through their morning paces. All this activity made for an enjoyable Thursday morning float.
