21 March 2013: What a brilliant morning!
The conditions were so good that I decided to take my four year old ‘Captain Nemo’ out for a float on the lake in my double sea kayak ‘The Big Bopper’. The conditions we perfect, excellent, wonderful and any other words that you can use to describe what it was like being out there. I hope you were lucky enough to be out and about this morning to experience it.

Mind blowing performance to kick start Canberra’s 100th birthday celebrations.
11 March 2013. Wow wow and wow…did I say wow enough. Lake Burley Griffin has started its 100th birthday celebrations with a mind blowing perfomance. Copper sunrises, balloon silhouettes were dotting the skies, then there was the show stopping showman in the Capital Chemist balloon. He even had time to chat as he changed over of his LPG gas cyclinder as the other ran out of juice while he was basket dragging across the basin towards Black Mountain Tower. He was that calm it felt like we were sitting on his back deck, kicking back and cruising for the afternoon. Unreal, fantastic, brilliant and as many other wow words you can use may come close to the experience I had this morning.

Thursday Morning Cruise
7 March 2013: Crystal clear skies and light winds made for a very relaxing paddle on LBG this morning. I was out there for an early start so I had plenty of time to take in the pre-dawn glow from the East Basin, cruise past the Carillon into the Main Basin to see the soft tones and then I sat back and took in another stunning light show.

It’s a Hat-trick for LBG
10 Feb 2013
Lake Burley Griffin (LBG) has successfully achieved a hat-trick this morning by producing another stunning display of colour. As I was paddling back in ‘ZEN’ Mode, I thought to myself; just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, you witness something like this. I don’t want to rant and rave too much, so scroll down and I hope you enjoy my snap shots.
Optical explosion
9 Feb 2013: Here we go again, another optical explosion on Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra. It amazes how there is such a huge colour change over such a small amount of time. The best part is that this is not a one off sunrise; I am treated to this experience more often than not. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

The Sun and Fun Tour of 2012-13
Every year we disappear to Crescent Head on the mid north coast for a six week camping adventure for a bit of sand, sun and fun and as usual it didn’t disappoint. The locals will kill me for letting the cat out of the bag, but it’s brilliant!
Pink Sunrises
Pink sunrises; they’re few and far between but I have been lucky enough to experience a few while paddling Lake Burley Griffin.
It certainly had the WOW factor that morning!
The natural light show was amazing
The dark before the dawn: the beginning of a great obsession!
As part of the blog writing course that I am currently undertaking, I must write a review. So I thought I would review Lake Burley Griffin; what started me paddling; and the head space that it provides me on a daily basis.
Last August I was in the third stage of an intensive three month blast of chemotherapy.

Stunning reflections
I keep saying it, “You know, if you witnessed this overseas you would be raving about it to everyone and photographing it like crazy.”
Terrific Tuross
How good is this place! Amazing, spectacular and beautiful are just a few words that can be used to describe Tuross Head. It was the first time that I had ever been to Tuross and it certainly will not be last. Three of us, Big Steve, Matt and myself decided to have a boy’s weekend away that would involve paddling, fishing and of course a bit of good old fashioned socialising. Matt and I are the keen kayak paddling ones, while big Steve’s the type of bloke that could fish for 30 hours in a 24 hour day. Matt and I would be out at the crack of dawn exploring the water ways of Tuross while Steve would try and better his record catch of a 90 centimetre Flat Head. We were so lucky, we ended up with the best weather that anyone could ask for; perfect calm conditions for three entire days.
