Optical Feast

21 Nov 2013: What and optical feast the sunrise was this morning. I am continually blown away by the amount of beautiful sunrises and sunsets that Canberra continually produces. Every day has its own unique signature, one day I’ll be floating amongst the mist, the next morning I’ll be treated to gorgeous golden tones with pastels pinks to west. Then to top it all off you are gob smacked with sunrise like the one this morning where at one stage it looked as if liquid lava was floating on the surface.

Sunset Story

20 Nov 2013: This afternoons sunset will be etched in my mind for some time to come. Its not too often that I get the opportunity to catch a sunrise, but this was definitely one to experience. I’m not going to rant and rave and tell you how great it is. I’ll just let the photos tell the story.

From the outset I could tell that it was going to be a very cool sunset.

Simplicity

19 Nov 2013: Pastel pinks lined the skies to the West this morning as I chasing the full moon into the main basin. On my return I watched golden tones flood over Canberra welcoming a new day; I love seeing Canberra from this perspective.

Sunrise and Silhouttes = Smiles

7 Nov 2013: This morning I was treated to a gorgeous sunrise and stunning silhouettes. I ventured over the mouth of the Jerrabomberra Wetlands and caught a the sunrise with ‘Pedro’ and his Squadron. Soon after that the members from The “Capital Lakes Rowing Club” were getting ready for their morning rowing session on LBG. Then to top it all of I decided to drift my way through the Kingston Foreshore developed. I don’t think it will be too long before the Kingston Foreshore will be alive and buzzing, I’m looking forward to grabbing a table, sitting back on the pier and enjoying the view.  It’s going to be another beautiful day here in Canberra so I hope that you get outside and enjoy the sunshine. Have a great day!

Mesmerised

6 Nov 2013: I was totally mesmerised by the mist this morning. There wasn’t any need for speed at all so I decided to kick back and float my through a magnificent misty morning. The crew from the ‘Burley Griffin Canoe Club’ or I should call them the ‘Mist Busters’ were going through their paces and blasted past me as usual. It shaping up to be a fantastic day, so I hope you get the chance to get outside today and enjoy.

Warm Welcome Home

26 Oct 2013: This was my first float back on Lake Burley Griffin after going to China with Tully (eldest boy) to watch Finn (middle boy) play 7 games of football (soccer) in 10 days. The conditions were fresh but I was certainly treated to a stunning warm welcoming home. I know I say it a lot, but I just love starting the day like this!

True Magic

26 Sept 2013: True magic is the only way to describe my paddle on LBG this morning. I can rant and rave about how beautiful it was or how I drifted on a massive sheet of glass that was the entire main basin and experienced a truly stunning sunrise. I had the water to myself for ages and the mirror reflections were glorious and many times throughout my two hour paddle it felt like I was floating on the clouds.  Anyway enough of the chatter, I’ll let the photos tell the story. I hope that you enjoy the shots.

Wow is the word of the morning

Soothing Sunday

22 Sept 2013: I’m not going to rant and rave how stunning it was or how the water soooooo perfect that you couldn’t tell which way was really up and how the morning transformation took me on a visual journey that was so soothing. I’ll let the photostory do exactly that.

5.23am: Even when I arrived it had all the marking of a great morning
