About kayakcameraman

I’m a kayaker who has fallen in love with photography. You'll find me quietly snapping away at the unique seasonal changes that take place around me. I began paddling on the lake as a way to rebuild both my body and mind after enduring an intensive three-month bout of chemotherapy due to testicular cancer. I had never paddled a kayak prior to this and very quickly discovered how stunning it is to be on the water looking out – rather than in. What I love about photography and paddling is that it provides you with best head space. This is why I love my daily paddles, as it gives me peace and contentment along with some of the best natural light shows. Why would you not want to experience it!

Brilliance and Balloons

22 Jan 2015: Dramatic and dynamic skies made for a wonderful morning on Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra. Initially it appeared that it was going to be a lack lustre sunrise as there was a bank of heavy cloud sitting low on the horizon. It didn’t take long for the clouds to break and begin to disperse which allowed the sun to back light the clouds from behind, creating a few nice formations. The continental Asia Cup balloons and the Questacon balloon were an added bonus to the morning skyscape. The Asian Cup games have been a real spectacle and good luck to the Australian Team for tonight’s match against China.

Moody Morning

16 Jan 2015: The sun rays beamed through the heavy clouds to create a moody atmosphere on Newcastle Harbour this morning. There was no sighting of the 5 metre White Pointer that has closed the Newcastle beaches for a consecutive seven days (Thank Goodness!) as I paddled my way towards the heads. The recent shark activity and unexpected dolphin mauling’s added a touch of suspense to my morning paddle.    IMG_5326_2
