9.34am Spring has finally sprung in Canberra with the Bradford Pear trees in full bloom
A spectacular sight
It was minus 5 that morning; you know its cold when the water freezes and turns to ice on your kayak hatch. I remember it well, the lake was covered in fog, the water was like a sheet of glass and then suddenly the fog cleared and the morning sun burst through long enough for me to race over underneath the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge to snap this shot.
Minutes later the lake was engulfed again.
6.08am: Yet again I was treated to another magnificent morning out there on LBG with the moon dominating the morning sky.
What a great way to send off winter. After a cold day of squalling winds and patchy rain, who would have ever thought that the day would turn out like this? It was truly stunning! My main aim was to paddle into the main basin to capture a silhouette sunset of the Brindabella Mountain range, but as I paddled under the Kings Avenue Bridge I noticed that the water was a like a sheet of glass and the Carillion foreshore lit up by the sunset.
There is nothing better than having an early morning paddle on Lake Burley Griffin. For me it is certainly the best way to start the day. This was taken at approximately 6:50am this morning.
