27 May 2013: Super soft tones and marble skies certainly eased me into the working week. The calm conditions on Lake Burley Griffin made for mirror like water that cast magic reflections. It was a crispy start Canberra with the temperature dropping below zero, but you soon forget about the cold when you have a wonderful morning transformation like this taking place. I hope that the snap shots ease you into your working week ahead.
26 May 2013: It was even thicker today than yesterday…unbelievable. The visibility was down to six metres and it was so disorientating. You really have to keep your focus and wits about you especially when to take off an hour before the sunrise and you are paddling in a pea soup fog. The air temp is three degrees and it wont be too long before the water temp nears that as well. But its conditions like this that provide you one of the best experiences you could ever ask for. Its amazing how quite it is out there, for some reason the heavy fog seems to act like a silencer. The water is like a sheet of glass and you are unable to consolidate true direction, you can choose to hug the shore line but I prefer to disappear into the abyss. The fog was that heavy this morning that you could feel the moisture droplets falling on you face as you paddled forward…..totally bizarre. 25 May 2013: I hope that you enjoy this massive photo story from this mornings foggy paddle on LBG. I just love the mystique and beauty of a thick blanketing fog. I was cocooned by fog that was like pea soup this morning and it created one of the best atmospheres that you could ever ask for. This lake never cease to amaze and astound me, I just love how the fog rolls through in waves. One minute you think that it’s going to clear, only to discover that it thickens even more. Then you have the sun trying its best to burn through the thick mist to reveal a crystal blue sky. This is why I love kayaking and photography, every day is a new adventure!
22 May 2013: WOW, this is a huge photo story today. The title for this morning’s paddle on Lake Burley Griffin definitely has to be WWF, the ”Wednesday WOW Factor”. I know that I keep saying it but what a transformation. The colours this morning were wild and I wasn’t the only one out there to enjoy it. The Australian girls junior sculls rowing team went through their paces on a chilly Canberra morning, the RAAF Balloon was hovering high in the sky and I was lucky enough to be paid a visit by the LBG pelicans. I just love starting my day like this!
At this point I know it is going to be a wonderful start to the day
19 may 2013: It began with an early morning paddle and then a walk on the beach where we had it entirely to ourselves; at times it felt like I was on ‘Lost’ and it was 10am. Then it was into the car to tour the many stunning headlands which are just a stone throw from each other to discover a few more pristine beaches before we headed home.
Our base camp for the weekend was the Seven Mile Beach Holiday Park at Gerroa. It’s in a great location and you are situated directly on Crooked River and only a short stroll through the sand dunes to Seven Mile Beach. The accommodation was excellent and very well priced, it certainly ticked all the boxes for us.
This part of the coast has so much to offer, there is a multitude of water ways that will cater for all needs, brilliant point and beach breaks and most times (outside of school Hols) you will probably be the only one who is walking along the beach. It has been a few years since I had last been through Gerroa and Gerringong and it certainly wont be the last! I hope you enjoy a few happy snaps from today’s adventures.

18 May 2013: We’ve had a beautiful day hanging out pelicans and walking stunning beaches that stretch for miles. Today’s photo blog is just a brief portion of what this truly stunning section of the Illawarra coast has to offer. It’s such a shame that we have only two days here, but it’s better to experience a little of a lot, rather than nothing at all.

May 8, 2013: What a transformation! It’s one of the best sunrises I have taken in for a while. Simply stunning is one way I could describe my experience out on water this morning. I found myself totally immersed in an amazing natural light show that was just brilliant. Paddling and photography are opposites but yet they complement each other so much. This is why I love it, because when you are out here you are only looking for the nice in the day and everything else just gets put on hold. Floating away on the water allows me to be plunged into a world of natural beauty where it provides me such peace and contentment; I just love greeting each day like this. I hope that you like the shots as much as I have enjoyed taking them.
6 May 2013: How good is Canberra? I was severed up another day that was nearly identical to yesterdays and trust me I’m not complaining. I’m amazed at how many serene starts we continually have, the only thing that I am noticing is that we are hitting the sub zero temperatures now and it won’t be long before the water on my hatches begin to freeze again. Then you know it’s cold!

5 May 2013: Orange tones to the east, pinks to west, vivid reds on the foreshore, golden sunrises, crystal blue skies, yellow balloons floating overhead and greens from the trees reflecting on glassy water. What a kaleidoscope of colour Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra was this morning.
6.13am: Out there again to enjoy another LBG Lightshow.
1 May 2013: I just love seeing Canberra from a different perspective. This morning I was floating around on the water from 5.30am. Initially it was clear as a bell and I was taking in some awesome lighting reflections from the National Museum and the Commonwealth Bridge. I could see the fog brewing in pre dawn distance down in the wetlands and it wasn’t long before the fog slowly crept in and blanketed the entire lake. This created an amazing atmosphere out there on the water. I am loving the transition from autumn to winter. I hope that you like the shots.
